Wendy Wallace CIWFM, newly elected Deputy Chair of IWFM’s Scotland Region, reflects on another standout conference at Murrayfield Stadium
Over 150 FM providers and professionals attended a sell-out IWFM Scotland conference in Murrayfield on Thursday 20 November.
More than 20 exhibitors were present, showing the incredible range of FM services in the Scottish market, including sponsors AV One Solutions, CBRE, Pump Action Ltd and RSG Building Services. Lanes Group made the transition from exhibitor last year to headline sponsor this year, stating:
‘As one of the UK’s leading drainage providers to the facilities management sector, these IWFM events are invaluable. Not just for sharing knowledge but for building relationships. At last year’s conference, we secured a £16,000 opportunity to deliver PPM services to schools across Scotland. Operating nationally from over 30 locations, Lanes Group is committed to service excellence. Our specialist divisions and subsidiaries provide tailored solutions, helping clients maintain safe and effective environments. We are proud to have been this year’s Headline Sponsor.’
A well thought-out and varied agenda based around the theme ‘The Future of Facilities Management’ included the future of FM in Student Accommodation (David Campbell, MD Lumis Student Living); Moving from Reactive to Proactive FM (Scott Spittal, MD Perspective Building Consultancy) and “The Age of Experience – what it means for the future of work” by Chris Moriarty, Workplace Geeks/Audiem.
The keynote speech from the Head of Physical Security at NPSA was particularly well received, with attendees remarking that it was insightful and engaging.
The event ended with an interactive panel facilitated by Chris Moriarty which included the day’s speakers and two guest panellists: Gillian Duthie of BlackRock and Ewa Mleczko from Skyscanner.
The IWFM Scotland Committee have been inundated with positive feedback and are absolutely delighted with the success of the event.
