IOSH to join key global partners on stage

The Chief Executive of the Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), Vanessa Harwood-Whitcher, will join other leading global organisations on stage in Spain to address a high-level congress.

The ORP (Occupational Risk Prevention) Congress, held from 26-28 April in Bilbao, will draw professionals from around the world to hear the latest on health and safety management, with a focus on its theme – At work: one life, one planet.

Vanessa will take to the plenary stage on the first day and introduce delegates to IOSH and its vision, the work its members carry out globally and how the Institution is collaborating and influencing on the world stage to improve the lives of working people.

She will move on to talk about IOSH’s new five-year strategy, Activate 2028, and how it will guide its work in the years to come.

Alongside Vanessa, other key speeches will be delivered by representatives from the World Health Organization, International Labour Organization, International Social Security Association, International Commission on Occupational Health, European Agency for Safety and Health at Work and many others.

Ahead of the event, Vanessa said: “This congress provides IOSH with a fantastic opportunity to come together with other global organisations and individuals all of whom are concerned with safety and health in the workplace.

“The theme is an all-encompassing one. With us facing such a turbulent and uncertain time, it brings together an interconnecting set of pressing issues that we need to confront.

“At IOSH, we recognise that to have maximum impact we need to work together with others who have similar ambitions to ours. Together, we can make a real difference and this congress is one step on that journey.”

IOSH’s presence at this year’s event follows on from last year’s in Colombia, where the Institution was presented with an award for its work.
