Principle Cleaning Services Celebrates Gold RoSPA Health and Safety Award

Principle Cleaning Services’ vertical division has received a Gold RoSPA Award, demonstrating its dedication to keeping staff, clients and all building users safe at work.

In a high-risk environment where rope access, cradle operations and working at height across London’s tallest towers and buildings are part of everyday work, this achievement reflects Principle’s proactive, safety-first culture, which is embedded in every aspect of its specialist operations, from safety compliance to behaviours.

Founded in 2013 with just four team members, Principle’s vertical division – one of the UK’s largest of its kind – now has a 150-strong team which includes 40 mobile operatives, many of whom are IRATA-trained abseilers, plus 80 site-based operatives and management.

The award reinforces the company’s commitment to supporting the wider wellbeing of its people through initiatives such as its Mental Health Strategy, underpinned by recognised standards and industry memberships, including ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and IRATA membership.

The Gold RoSPA Award provides further confidence for Principle’s clients that safety is at the heart of its services.

2026 marks the 70th anniversary of the RoSPA Awards, which recognises the achievements of companies prioritising their workers’ safety. This year the awards received 2,000 entries from nearly 60 countries.

David Saville, managing director, vertical and specialist cleaning, Principle Cleaning Services, said: “Achieving the Gold RoSPA Health and Safety Award is a fantastic recognition of the commitment to safety demonstrated by everyone across our vertical division. In an environment where our teams carry out complex and high-risk work every day, safety can never be an afterthought. It has to be embedded in everything we do – from strong leadership and robust risk assessments to behavioural safety and supporting the wellbeing of our people. I’m incredibly proud of the way our team continues to challenge themselves, look out for one another and maintain the highest standards.”

Julia Small, RoSPA’s growth director, said: “RoSPA congratulates Principle Cleaning Services on its RoSPA Health and Safety Award. The high standards Principle Cleaning Services’ vertical division has achieved are the result of hard work and dedication, of which Principle Cleaning Services should be rightfully proud and which RoSPA is delighted to honour.  2026 is a landmark year for the RoSPA Awards as we reflect on how far workplace safety has come in 70 years. It is because of the commitment of health and safety leaders like Principle Cleaning Services that people today are safer at work than in the past, setting an inspiring example for the future.”

The RoSPA Awards are sponsored by the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH), a leading global organisation, which provides internationally recognised health, safety and environmental qualifications that raise the competence of safety and environmental professionals as well as individuals at all levels in the workplace.

Dee Arp, NEBOSH chief quality officer and the head judge of the RoSPA Awards, said: “NEBOSH is proud to be the headline sponsor of the RoSPA Awards. They provide an opportunity to celebrate excellence in health and safety, while also helping to strengthen a culture of care, accountability and continuous improvement. These awards are a powerful reminder that protecting people transcends borders, and that supporting employees to return home safe, healthy and happy each day is fundamental to long-term success and resilience.”
