Mecsia Acquires The Drain Group to Strengthen Specialist Self-Delivery and National Scale

Mecsia, one of the UK’s fastest-growing providers of compliance-led technical services, has completed the strategic acquisition of The Drain Group (TDG), a respected drainage specialist operating across the West Midlands and includes Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Staffordshire, and Birmingham Drain Services.

This acquisition immediately expands Mecsia’s national footprint and commitment to direct, high-quality service self-delivery. The addition of TDG grows the combined Group’s employees to over 1,270 people and raises the annual turnover to £230m, cementing Mecsia’s position as a major force in essential technical and compliance services.

Jon Coiley, CEO of Mecsia, said: “We are extremely pleased to welcome The Drain Group and their excellent team of people to Mecsia. We remain committed to expanding our footprint across the UK and to increase self-delivery of specialist services wherever possible. The team in Birmingham has an enviable reputation for quality and speed of response. We are all looking forward to developing this new group drainage service offering in the months ahead.”

Tony Buchanan, Managing Director at TDG, commented: “We’re so proud of everything The Drain Group has achieved over the years since Tina and I started the business back in 2008. Joining Mecsia is the next natural step for us — it means we can keep growing, invest more in our people, and give even more back to our customers. The most important thing is nothing changes when it comes to the way we work, our values, or the service we are known for. This is an exciting new chapter built on trust, respect, and a shared ambition for the future”

Continuity and Investment

TDG’s skilled teams, leadership, and trusted brand will remain in place. The business will continue to operate independently from its centrally located head office in Birmingham, with no disruption to services, contracts, or primary contacts.

All existing TDG Directors, Managers, and staff are staying with the business for the long term. Customers can expect the same dedicated people and high-quality service, now backed by Mecsia’s scale, investment, and innovation.

Solidifying Our Commitment to Specialist Services

This acquisition is about reinforcing our commitment to delivering the most reliable, compliance-led technical services possible. Bringing TDG’s highly regarded drainage expertise in-house means we can enhance the quality control and speed of response in this vital area to our clients.

Our expanded scale, now standing at £230m turnover and 1,270 dedicated professionals, allows us to accelerate the adoption of the best compliance technology, and optimise national logistical support for all our teams. This integration ensures that TDG customers continue to receive the dedicated service they expect, now with seamless access to Mecsia’s wider range of services.
