Briggs & Forrester Special Projects secure Guildhall chiller replacement works

The chiller replacement project at Guildhall in London has been awarded to Briggs & Forrester Special Projects. The £3.5m project for the City of London Corporation will see Special Projects acting as principal contractor in the delivery of a new centralised chiller system within the Grade II listed building.

The project consists of the removal of five existing north wing chillers including the cooling tower to install six new larger chillers, with the building remaining occupied throughout. The works will include all associated disconnecting, reconnecting and interconnecting pipework and buildersworks including concrete bases, steelwork / gantry and walkway, roof works and general decoration.

The capacity of the six new chillers will be sufficient to serve the entire Guildhall building allowing the west wing chillers and associated cooling towers to be decommissioned and removed. A new chilled water link will be installed at roof level between the north, west and east wings.
