Samsung Climate Solutions Launches DVM S2 R32 For The Next Generation of Commercial HVAC

Samsung Climate Solutions announces the DVM S2 R32, a commercial VRF system designed to operate with R32 refrigerant for commercial applications including offices, hotels and mixed-use buildings.

The DVM S2 R32 integrates safety features, intelligent connectivity and AI-enabled optimisation to simplify installation, improve day-to-day operation and support connected building management.

Regulatory changes are accelerating the transition towards lower Global Warming Potential (GWP) refrigerants, making R32, which has a lower GWP than R410A¹, an important refrigerant choice for commercial VRF applications.

The transition introduces new design, safety and compliance requirements, with consultants and installers needing to undertake additional planning, refrigerant calculations and the integration of safety measures throughout the design and installation process.

The DVM S2 R32 addresses these evolving regulatory changes by integrating key safety functions directly into the system, simplifying design and installation while supporting reliable operation throughout the building lifecycle.

For projects using DVM S2 R32, Samsung’s DVM Pro software can provide system design and refrigerant calculations, enabling consultants and installers to design compliant systems with confidence.

Integrated safety by design

The DVM S2 R32 incorporates key safety measures, in accordance with IEC 60335-2-40², directly into the system design. These functions reduce the need for additional on-site intervention, creating a more streamlined design and installation process.

Its integrated shut-off valve boxes and MCU configurations further contribute to simplified installation and enhanced system stability, reducing the practical complexity of commercial installations.

Klaudia Szweda-Adelaja, Product Manager at Samsung Climate Solutions, commented: “The commercial HVAC market is entering a new phase, driven by evolving regulations, changing customer expectations and increasing demand for smarter building operation. The move to lower-GWP refrigerants is changing much more than refrigerant selection; it’s changing how commercial HVAC systems are designed, installed and managed.

“With the DVM S2 R32, we’ve focused on integrating safety, connectivity and intelligent operation into a single platform, helping consultants, installers and building owners to navigate this transition with greater confidence while preparing for increasingly connected commercial buildings.”

Connected control across commercial buildings

The DVM S2 R32 is SmartThings ready, with an integrated Wi-Fi kit that enables users to monitor and control system operation remotely through the SmartThings App³. As commercial HVAC systems become increasingly connected, this supports greater visibility and control across commercial buildings.

The system is also SmartThings Pro ready, enabling integration with advanced building management platforms for coordinated climate control across multiple zones and systems. Compatibility with Samsung b.IoT Lite further supports integration with VRF and third-party systems via BACnet, providing centralised monitoring and control for more complex commercial building environments.

Intelligent operation powered by AI

The DVM S2 R32 can be equipped with an optional AI Booster Kit4, enabling on-device AI processing directly on the outdoor unit without relying on continuous cloud connectivity. This

enables the system to analyse operational data locally to support functions such as proactive optimisation and pre-conditioning. AI Adaptive Control enables the optimisation of heating and cooling performance, with potential energy savings of up to 25%5.

Active AI features further enhance operation by analysing usage patterns and operating conditions. Functions including refrigerant monitoring, adaptive pressure control and intelligent defrost management help to optimise performance. Active AI Defrost reduces unnecessary defrost cycles and can increase continuous heating time by up to 40%6.

Designed for evolving commercial environments

By combining integrated safety, intelligent connectivity and advanced AI functionality, the DVM S2 R32 supports stable operation across changing building conditions while helping to simplify installation and improve operational transparency. Together, these capabilities enable consultants, installers and building managers to adopt a more connected and manageable approach to climate control across a wide range of commercial applications.
