Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has completed a specialist electrical services project at the popular amusement park Alton Towers.
Engineers from PTSG Electrical Services Ltd visited site in Staffordshire, near the village of Alton, to deliver a test and inspection of the lightning protection system. PTSG carries out periodic testing at Alton Towers and a great many other sites in accordance with industry regulations. This ensure the systems are fully operational and able to protect structures and users. If any remedial work is required, PTSG’s engineers are able to deliver these too.
Alton Towers Resort, usually referred to as Alton Towers, is a theme park and resort complex in Staffordshire. The park is operated by Merlin Entertainments Group and incorporates a theme park, water park, mini golf and hotel complex. In 2021, it ranked first for attendance among amusement parks in the UK, with an estimated 1.8 million visitors.
In February 2024, Alton Towers submitted plans for a new flat ride near the former site of ripsaw. It will see a new building erected on the path down to Galactica, creating an underpass, with the flat ride sitting on top. The ride is codenamed “Project Ocean”.
The number of lightning protection projects PTSG is contracted for through its electrical services division continues to grow in breadth and depth. Sites vary from historic or protected buildings, such as Leeds’ Grade I-listed Leeming building and Berrington Hall in Herefordshire, to iconic buildings including Battersea Power stations, as well as a vast number of buildings in the higher education sector.
