Andron been awarded the prestigious International Green Apple Environment Award 2024, securing 11 wins across multiple categories in recognition of their exceptional commitment to environmental excellence.
Andron’s Silverburn Shopping Centre team members, Environmental Services Manager Sandra Wright and Cleaning Supervisor Mark Brodie, were delighted to attend the Kensington Palace ceremony to claim three of the awards. This recognition celebrates the company’s achievements within its business operations and across the specialised cleaning and waste management services it provides to clients.
The Green Apple Environment Awards, organised by The Green Organisation, celebrates environmental best practices across the public and private sectors, including governments, businesses, and communities. Dedicated to recognising, rewarding, and promoting environmental best practices worldwide, the organisation’s efforts have grown to highlight the critical importance of sustainable action in today’s world.
This remarkable achievement underscores Andron’s dedication to sustainability and reducing their environmental footprint—core values that drive them forward as they pursue their ambitious goal of becoming Net Zero by 2040.

These award-winning sites showcase Andron’s expertise in helping clients achieve their sustainability targets by eliminating cleaning chemicals and virgin plastic, reducing energy consumption, water usage, and waste while improving overall building efficiency. They achieve this by collaborating closely with clients to understand their unique sustainability goals, implementing tailored ESG strategies and leveraging their innovative green cleaning and waste management technologies. Additionally, they work with their trusted supply chain to boost recycling rates and ensure zero waste is sent to landfills, driving impactful and lasting environmental results.
Commenting on the win with Silverburn, the independent judging panel of The Green Apple Awards said: “Silverburn aims to achieve net positive environmental impact by 2030. In February 2023, Andron revamped the cleaning and waste management service, introducing eco-friendly products, a closed-loop recycling system and achieving 73% recycling rates and zero landfill waste!”
Andron were also recognised for their efforts in sustainability in combination with community impact. They worked with their client, Broad Street Plaza, in an inspiring collaboration with Men in Sheds (Age UK), an initiative supporting retired individuals facing isolation and mental health challenges. Over two transformative days, they worked with them to help repurpose wooden pallets left for recycling into innovative Service Yard solutions, exemplifying environmental responsibility while supporting an important cause. This impactful collaboration not only earned Broad Street Plaza prestigious awards in the waste management and wellbeing categories but also highlighted the power of community and teamwork. The project reached a high point with a visit from the Mayor and Mayoress of Halifax.

- Sustainable Business Travel
They have particularly excelled in their waste management efforts. From 2023 to 2024, across multiple client sites, Andron saved 286 kg of plastic by purchasing sustainable period care products from eco-conscious supplier, TOTM. Each July, they also support Plastic Free July initiatives; in 2023, this included distributing 100% recyclable bottles from the Made Blue Foundation, saving 5 tonnes of plastic and providing 459,000 litres of clean water. Additionally, they avoided 425 kg of virgin plastic use this year by implementing innovative technologies and making sustainable choices.

The company has also focused on reducing carbon emissions from business travel within their operations, which contribute heavily to their Scope 1 emissions and part of their Scope 3. With their fleet now fully electric and implementing policies to optimise travel and increase virtual meetings, they have significantly cut transportation-related emissions. From 2022 to 2023, this resulted in a 31% reduction in business travel emissions. Also, through tree planting with Treedom, they offset 31.5 tCO2e, neutralising the carbon footprint of event travel.
