Equans, has secured a three-year contract extension and early renewal with Southern Water, continuing a successful facilities management partnership through to 2029.
Since being appointed in 2021, Equans has been delivering integrated FM services across Southern Water’s extensive estate – spanning 4,000 sites. Over the past four years, the successful collaboration has driven measurable improvements in safety, operational efficiency, and customer service.
The contract extension will allow Equans to continue providing a comprehensive range of services, including hard FM, mechanical & electrical, planned preventative maintenance, fire & security systems, reactive works, energy services, grounds maintenance and cleaning.
Equans will also introduce bespoke, new innovative solutions designed to meet Southern Water’s evolving needs, including the rollout of AI-powered helpdesk support, live performance dashboards, and enhanced digital monitoring tools. Dedicated roles will also be introduced to drive continuous improvement, energy management & optimisation, and social value – helping to advance Southern Water’s long-term objectives around community impact and environmental sustainability.

The extension will be driven by a joint strategic steering board, overseeing the delivery of 48 key commitments across 15 areas, including safety, technology integration, and cost management. Equans’ ‘one team’ approach, combined with investment in digital innovation and local communities, will help ensure long-term benefits for Southern Water customers, employees, and the wider environment.
