The Association of Professional Standards for Asset Surveying (APSAS) has appointed Mark Griffiths, Founder and Managing Director of WMA Consultancy, to its Board as a Non Executive Director, effective from 1st May 2026.
The appointment marks a significant step in APSAS’s continued growth, strengthening its leadership as it works to raise standards and professionalise mechanical and electrical asset surveying across the sector.
Launched twelve months ago, APSAS was established to improve the quality of asset surveying and to create a clearly defined and supported career pathway for both existing professionals and new entrants. Earlier this month, APSAS introduced its Level 1 and 2 online training and certification programmes.
Mark Griffiths, commented: “Asset surveying sits at the heart of effective facilities management, yet too often it is treated as a technical afterthought rather than a professional discipline in its own right. I’m delighted to be joining APSAS at a time when the industry is demanding better data, clearer competence and stronger standards.
I look forward to using my experience across FM and estates to help further professionalise asset surveying and reinforce its role in supporting safe, sustainable and well-informed decision-making.”
APSAS Founding Director, Mark Whittaker, said: “I have known Mark for a number of years through our work with the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management. We share a strong commitment to improving industry practice and developing career pathways, underpinned by high-quality asset data. Mark brings significant experience, insight and industry connections, and we are delighted to welcome him to the Board at this important stage in APSAS’s development.”
