Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has been contracted to deliver specialist fire and security solutions at the UK’s number one university for graduates starting or running their own business (Capital on Tap 2021).
The university, based in Cornwall, has approximately 7,000 students undertaking undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. It was founded as a school of art in 1902, in response to the diminution of scientific activities in Cornwall that was brought about by the decline of the Cornish mining industry.
In November 2012, David Willetts, Minister of State for Universities and Science, recognised its status as a full university following a rigorous appraisal process, and on 9 December 2012, the establishment was granted full university status. The university is currently working towards gaining Research Degree Awarding Powers, to accompany its Taught Degree Awarding Powers, so that it can award its own PhDs and MPhils.
In this contract, engineers from PTSG Fire Solutions Ltd will deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) of the security systems in place at the university. PTSG installs and carries out PPM on a wide range of security systems such as CCTV, access control, intruder alarms and door entry systems.. Periodic PPM is an effective way of heading off issues before they occur, ensuring equipment remains fully functional.
